Inflectra Corporation Joins US-EU Safe Harbor Framework

11-Feb-2013 by Adam Sandman Press Release

Inflectra Corporation today announced its compliance with the US-EU Safe Harbor framework developed by the US Department of Commerce and the European Commission governing the handling of European Union personal data.

Certifying to the Safe Harbor assures EU organizations and governing entities that a US company comprehends and has implemented adequate personal data privacy protections. The certification also in most cases eliminates the need for prior approval to begin data transfers between the EU and US, and in all cases ensures prompt approval of such transfer from the data protection authorities in EU member states.

The Safe Harbor certification enables Inflectra to provide its world-class SpiraTeam and KronoDesk software as a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription to its large multinational customers that need to easily share data between their offices in the US and EU. In addition it allows us to build increased capacity and redundancy in our US datacenters that can be used to host data for our EU customers.

We self-certify compliance with US-EU Safe Harbor.

The European Commission's Directive on Data Protection prohibits the transfer of personal data to countries outside of the European Economic Area to nations that do not meet the EU standard for privacy protection. Approved by the EU in 2000, the Safe Harbor provides a streamlined means for US organizations to comply with EU data standards for protecting personal data privacy and improve service to their clients in the EU. The Safe Harbor certification is recognition of the level of care and the degree of security that Inflectra has in place to protect the sensitive and confidential data that is entrusted to us for storage and hosting by our global network of customers.

Organizations voluntarily certify to the Safe Harbor, and must re-certify annually. For more information on the Safe Harbor and for a list of certified organizations, please visit: http://www.export.gov/safeharbor.
