Google Sheets Import Tool Now Supports Requirements, Test Cases, Test Steps, Releases, and Tasks

We announced last year that we had initial support for importing requirements from Google Sheets into Spira, as an alternative to our existing Microsoft Excel add-in. Due to the popularity of the Google Sheets add-in, we have expanded its functionality to handle additional artifact types.

What's New in the Latest Version?

In the latest version of our Google Sheets Add-On, you can now import the following different types of artifact into SpiraTest, SpiraPlan and SpiraTeam:

  • Requirements
  • Test Cases
    • Including Test Steps
  • Releases
  • Tasks

The major benefit over our existing Microsoft Excel Add-In which can also import these artifacts is that it's completely cloud-based and cross-platform. So if you have legacy test cases stored in Excel, CSV, or any other spreadsheet format, you now have an even easier migration path into Spira. You can do the migration on a Mac, PC, Linux, or mobile device, any tool that can run a modern web browser in fact.

The Future

We also have an Add-In for Office 365, Microsoft's cloud-based successor to Microsoft Office. We have an add-in for Excel365 that can handle requirements, and based on customer demand, we may also expand that to other artifact types. Please let us know if that would be useful...
