Another interesting idea is to execute sql code during the transition and if it returns zero, than transition will be done by Spira. Otherwise workflow transition should show the end user a string that sql returns (or a specific form similar to current custom reports) to help him understand why transition between statuses wasn't performed.
Use-case:
I want to allow some transition only for a rather complex condition: if this field has next value, than check that another value is filled, check that user, who executes the transition is from specific department and etc.
It looks like it won't be too difficult to implement it, but benefits could be siginificant as it will give Spira, Jira's validation on transition.
We are looking at something similar, but not exactly the same.
The idea is to allow you to have changes in workflow fire webhook notifications.
They could then call JavaScript plugins that call API functions to perform certain business actions.
So it wouldn't be SQL based, but would accomplish the same thing.
