Background
As we discussed in this KB article last year, Atlassian was in the process of depreciating the use of Jira passwords for accessing its REST API. Going forward, you needed to use a login and special application API Key that you generate per-application inside Jira. You then use this instead of the Jira password.
Now the time has come when Atlassian has formally blocked the use of passwords. So if you see the following in your Spira data-synchronzation log, you need to take action:
Basic auth with password is not allowed on this instance
