The Solution

The solution is to disable the Protected View setting within Excel. To do this, please do the following:

  1. Open MS Excel 
  2. Go to File > Options 
  3. Click Trust Center (from the menu on the left) 
  4. Click the 'Trust Center Settings' button 
  5. Click Protected View (from the menu on the left) 
  6. Remove the check mark next to "Enable Protected View for files originating from the internet" 
  7. Click OK 
  8. Click OK

Now you will be able to open Excel reports from Spira.
