Wrong version text in releases when synchronizing with Jira

We synchronize the Releases from Jira. Some releases have the version text "X.xxx" where xxx is the number of the release "RLxxx" - 1. The name of the release is however correct. I have big problems to find the right release when I try to assign a test set to a release since the version is used .
Any idea what is going wrong during synchronization?

Hi Roland

If the version number is already in use in SpiraTest it may need to create a fictitious version number to keep them unique.
You can rename the version name and number in JIRA post-synchronization in SpiraTest to make them easier to understand and it will not break the synchronization, since we use a special internal field (JIRA DataSync ID) to map the releases/versions between the two systems.

After some research I found the problem. I have used the import to Excel Add-in to extract the data from SpiraTest.

Here are my findings. The version field has a size limitation (10 characters). And since the version field is set from the Name of the release and we have long release names that can be equal for the first 10 characters the version is replaced with X.number.

Is there a possiblity to increase the number of characters in the version field to more the 10? And NO, we can't change our release numbering scheme.
