hi Admin and all

I have small concern that really needs your help. When working on the Test set on project A, I need to copy or import it into another project to re-use. Do we have any method to do it?

Thanks and Best Regards

Hi Tu

Not directly, you'd need to create it fresh in the new project. You can export the test cases from one project to another using Tools > Export.

hi Adam,

Thanks so much for your reply.

I have already known the original way: exporting the TCs first, then creating new Test Set from them. However, the Test Set needs to be copied from another project was pickup from a lot of different TCs from different folders. Therefore it is difficult for us to know which TCs should be pickup in new Test Set. That's the reason I need your help on it. :)

Thanks

Hello

I think the best way to do this would be via the Excel Add-In:

Download the Excel template as well. You may follow the integration guide for detailed instructions.
So basically, you may import the test sets into the template and then select a different project from the drop down. Ensure you have removed the id's before exporting the test sets to a different project.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Good news about this - Export a Test Set to another product functionality is now available starting from Spira v.8.12
This will copy the Test Set along with its Test Cases and Test Steps. In case any of the Test Cases have a linked Test Step, they will also be copied to the destination product. Parameters will also be exported.

Please note:

  • Copied Test Cases are placed in a folder named after the Test Set token ([TX:123])
  • If you export the same Test Set more than once, it will get duplicated in the destination product as it will its test cases
  • These properties of the Test Set are not exported: Automation Host, Test Configuration
  • The cross-product Test Cases of the Test Set are not exported

Hope that helps.
