Hi Christoph

That field is used to determine the algorithm used to hash the passwords. For SpiraTeam v3.2 and earlier a simple MD5 hash was used, for SpiraTeam v4.0 and later, a SHA1 hash is used plus all the hashes are salted. To avoid having to make every user change their password upon upgrade, the system has the flag to determine if it's using the new format or old format (1 = old format, 0 = new format).
