Office 2003 Add-Ins toolbar does not appear

After installing the MS-Office 2003 Add-Ins package and opening up MS-Excel or MS-Word 2003 the Spira Import/Export toolbar is not displayed (as illustrated in the documentation).

Why don't empty fields overwrite populated cells when importing from spiraTest? E.g. In the Test Cases tab, if a row has a Type of ">TestStep" along with Step #, Test Step Description, Expected Result, Sample Data, etc. fields populated, and on import, the row is overwritten with a Type of "TestCase", the Step #, Test Step Description, Expected Result, Sample Data, etc., are still populated with the old data.

Hi, my components: VisualStudioToolsOffice8.0.exe Office2003PIA.msi MsOffice2003AddInsSetup.msi My workflow: - install the components - open the SpiraImportTemplate.xls and clear Testcase worksheet. - connect to the Live System and import from Spira. at this time, anything is fine. i get the data. Now i edit a testcase (only Testcasename) and Teststep data (Teststep Desc. and Exp. Result) Clicking "export to spira" doenst give an error (Import/Export of 3 rows sucessfully completed) When i opened the live system and look at this case: - The Testcasename is changed - Teststep Desc and Exp Result arent changed. Updating multiple Requirements with 1 Test Case

Is there a way to update multiple test Requirements with a single Test Case when using the Data Exporter? I have a Test Case which satisfies 4 Requirements, and I dont really want to replicate the same Test Case 4 times - it would be easier to just link it to all 4 Requirements

Missing Requirements from Test Case Import

I have Test Cases that have mapped Requirements against them. When I perform an IMPORT, all the fields are copied across as expected, except the Requirements ID. Is this a known issue? If so, is there any way around it?

Excel Error when Importing from Spira

Office addins not being loaded

Office 2010 Spiratest V3.0 Latest versions of Spiratest addins and VSTO loaded. The addins do not appear in Excel, Word or Project. I can see them in the addon management part of the office apps, but they are disabled. Enabling them and restarting the application just disables them again. Th path to the addon looks like this: C:\Program Files\Inflectra\Spira MS Office 2007 Add-Ins\SpiraExcelAddin.vsto|vstolocal In the Com Add-Ins dialogue for Excel, it sometimes says it fails to load due to a runtime error. I don't see that in Word. Enabling the addin, clicking OK, then going back to the add-in dialogue box shows the addin is again disabled. The checkbox setting doesn't seem to stick. Any ideas?

Priority and Status data not importing from Contour?

Hi - we're currently looking at using Jama Contour to manage/develop requirements and are testing the import tool to see how we can integrate it with SpiraTest - Is there a trick to getting the priority and status data to import along with the requirements from contour? The requirements are coming across fine, but the rest of the data isn't... not sure if it's a version thing (we're only using v3.0 of SpiraTest, running the latest version of contour - but as a 14-day trial installation). The import doc clearly shows the mappings that are supposed to happen, it just doesn't seem to work for us. Also, if we change a requirement in Contour and re-import, the changes are reflected and the change history is updated, but it appears that unchanged requirements are also reimported (last modified date is updated for all requirements) - is this supposed to happen? How do I get a report in SpiraTest on requirements that have been changed? Just wanted to see if this has come up before and anyone has any info on it all (can't update SpiraTest to v3.1 and test again for a few weeks while other testing is going on). Thanks

import from QC: custom fields - lists

Hi, I imported my QC 10 project into spiratest and noticed the following: my custom field in QC is a lookup list with 2 values (Yes/No). After import in Spiratest it a a normal text custom field. So you can enter whatever value. How do I make a lookup list of this field in spiratest without loosing the values? Filip

Hi, we intend to migrate from QC 10 to Spirateam. When importing a QC project into spirateam, the requirement tree is kind of messed up. QC contains following tree: Root - Folder A - Subfolder AA - req A - req B - Subfolder AB - Folder B ... this results in following tree in spirateam - Folder A - Subfolder AA - req A - req B - Subfolder AB <== this went up 1 level, in fact all subfolders except the first go up 1 level. - Folder B is this due to the spirateam import tool or the way we handle requirements in QC or something else? thx Filip

xls addin not spirateam 4 compliant

Hi, it seems that the current office addin and xls template are not for spirateam 4 but only for 3. more specific, the multiselect custom fields are not supported at all. + can the add-in be improved so that the "names" instead of ids can be entered for eg release and other custom fields? a dynamic load of these data on project selection in the add-in could be done here. the lookups tab can be extended with these data (even the current should be updated on the fly because you can change them in spirateam, the incident status, priority etc) thx Filip

Hi, I have trouble connecting to my SpiraTeam server with the MS-Office Add-in. When i click connect the software response with an error message, something like; "Unable to connect to server. The error message was: 'It was not possible to activate the requested service https://192.168.11.100/SpiraTeam/services/v3_0/ImportExport.svc ." Is it something wrong with the software on my server or is it something wrong with the Add-in? I-¦m using SpiraTeam 3.1 patch 15 and the MS-Office Ad-in is version 3.0.1. Importing from xl export

I have an xl spreadsheet of data which I exported from SpiraTest I"m now trying to import them into a new instance of Spira. I can connect ok and select the Project to import into and the artifact Release BUT when I try to import the Releases, if I remove the Release ID values, each line gets the same error of "Database Foreign key violation occurred". If I leave the Release ID values in place, I get the following error on each line 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong please ? thanks - Lynn

Hello There are several items that would help make the Requirements import from EnterpriseArchitet (EA) into SpiraTest (ST) much more useful than it currently is. Grouping requirements under packages in EA ought to be imported as Requirements (Package) and child requirements. As it is, it means a ton of 'massaging' of the requirements in SpiraTest into an appropriate hierarchy. Improve the field mapping between EA & ST so that users can map any field in the requirement AND tagged values as well. At the moment only the Name, Description, Importance & Author are imported which, again, requires a ton of massaging of the requirements list. In EA's Project Browser it is possible to create parent > child requirement relationships ... it would be helpful if this parent > child relationship was also imported correctly to ST ... at the moment only the Parent is imported In EA there is a 'parent' req. "Data Fields" with 3 children of Handle Time, Incident ID, Interaction ID ... only the Parent 'Data Fields' was imported into ST A much closer integration between ST & EA would make using both these tools a lot more enjoyable as well as useful. Otherwise I end having to spend too much time 'fixing' data between the two applications trying to keep the requirements information & hierarchy up to date.

Import Test Runs from JUnit Formatted XML

Our test tool doesn't have a SpiraTeam plug-in to support automatic importing of our unit testing, but it does generate a JUnit formatted xml file. Is there any way to import this file into SpiraTeam to record TestRuns? It'd be possible to add info the XML/rename the tests to match a certain naming schema.

Hey guys, has anyone else seen this: When trying to use the importer/exporter we will occasionally see the following error: “Error During Import/Export Exception from HRESULT:0x800AC472” My google-fu tells me it's an excel error but I'm not sure what steps to take to correct the error or prevent it's recurrence.

Hi, I'm integrating SpiraTeam with our existing Jira installation (v5.1.6). Plugin used (Jira 4.x / 5.x) works as expected, however it does not synchronize some Issues (half of them), we currently have ~630 issues in JIRA, even if I tried the "Force Re-Sync" button in Data Synchronization Admin section. Types, Statuses, Priorities and Severities were all recreated to match our JIRA installation and were properly configured in data mapping. Could you please give me a hint on what can be the problem? Thank you.

Executing Excel Macro with Excel Add-on

Hi, I am trying to record and execute an Excel Macro in order to automatically export data to SpiraTest. However, when I record the Excel Macro, I don't see anything recorded regarding the Add-On. The data importer for SpiraTest from Version One keeps getting a connection error every time I connect to my version one instance. I am running Version One 14+ and SpiraTest 3.2 and the VersionOne Data Importer Version is 3.2.0. On the same system that the importer is installed on I can get to the VersionOne instance just fine through two different browsers. Is the plugin expecting a certain way to authenticate against VersionOne? I am using domain authentication against VersionOne. I did skip the initial configuration and went straight to SpiraTest to make sure I could authenticate against my SpiraTest instance and that seemed to work just fine. Of course without the VersionOne portion of the configuration its kind of moot. Not sure what is going on. I'm running this on a Windows 2008 R2 server. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I've a bundle of test cases always tested outside and reported with an Excel sheet. Every testrun should also fill out a custom property (multielect). How can I add this information to the Excel sheet and export the testrun with it to Spira?

Hi. We have an existing Project that has been manually input. This has many existing requirements with some place holders for import of my requirements that exist in a MS Word document in separate sections. I can successfully import the sections of word document requirements utilising the export addin and Style mapping. However ... My problem is how do I direct the import to chain into the existing project structure. Just doing an import seems to Tag the imported requirements to the end ? (Which is not where I want them to be) Is this possible to target the existing place markers ? For instance a particular "Component" ? Custom Values and Lookups cannot be Imported or Exported to Excel

I cannot Import/Export Custom Values or Lookups using the MS Excel add-in because neither appears in the artefact drop-down list. There doesn't seem to be much point in having these worksheet templates if you can't use them. I don't think this is version specific to Excel 2003/2007/2010+, but I am on Office 2016 and SpiraTeam v4. Has anyone else encountered this?

Hello, I am currently studying the SpiraPlan application together with Customer X , and I am analyzing which tool and method would be best suited for migrating data from Jira Software Server 9.6 to SpiraPlan 7.5. I have looked at the Migration tool for Jira and have assessed that the tool does not support field mapping (Its a requirement), error reporting, and provides limited opportunities to validate the result before importing it to SpiraPlan. Therefore, I have now turned to the SpiraTest Excel Import/Export Tool . I believe the tool provides good opportunities for custom field mappings. And with the help of Excel formulas, it is relatively easy to edit the format of data as needed, even with large data volumes. However, I have not been able to find how to import Comments and Attachments with the tool. I also wonder if it is possible to install the tool offline. The environment at the customer site where I may perform the migration is restricted VDI environment and lacks internet connectivity. If the SpiraTest Excel Import/Export Tool does not support the import of comments and attachments , what other options are there to transfer this data from Jira Software to SpiraPlan? Has anyone done this kind of migration before? Im looking for answers from someone with experience who can suggest proven migration tools that would be applicable in this project.
